Ignition at the Davao Crocodile Park

Many are fascinated with fire dancing. Most of the time, we can see it at some beach resorts that some people from the Pacific islands enjoy to watch and perform for entertainment or ritual. :) In Davao City, the fire dancing is something significant. :) As the name of the city has come from the word daba-daba or a huge burning fire at the riverbanks, this fire dancing is being performed at the river bank of Davao River, and this is brought by the Tribu K'limudan Cultural Dance Troupe. :)

This has been an attraction at the complex of Davao Crocodile Park every Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 5:30 PM. :) In this fire dance show, you will not only see a poi being used but variety of materials. :) You can see it on the embedded video. :)

By the way, the complex has an entrance fee of 200 pesos every weekend. This will include a tour around the Davao Crocodile Park, Bird Show, visit at the Butterfly House and watch the Fire Dance Show. :)

I will suggest that you see it in person and be amazed with the performance. :)

Have fun!

Summer Coolers in Blugre!

The heat is on! You can really feel it... That is why most people will find something arctic to their quenching bodies.

Blugre Coffee, one of the coffee shops in the city, offers not only variety of coffee but of variety of thirst quenchers as well. For this summer heat, they are introducing their newest summer coolers with some Davao bloggers to taste it first. :) Aside from their summer coolers, they also offer us their newest torte, the halo-halo torte. :) Therefore, our palates will taste their Halo-halo Torte, Blugre Raspberry Blast and Blugre Passionfruit Blast. Here's the review...

Left to Right: Halo-halo Torte, Blugre Raspberry Blast and Blugre Passionfruit Blast
First in line, the Blugre Raspberry Blast. Raspberries, strawberries and blackberries are of the same family under Rosaceae. Tasting this cooler is somewhat similar with the most known taste of a strawberry. Well, they are of the same family so it's not that surprising, but they differ in color that creates the curiosity. ;) They put in raspberry puree for this cooler with a secret ingredient (that they don't disclose even secretly, LOL). As a whole, its serving appearance, creaminess and raspberrific taste is perfect! Kids will surely love this one and kids-alike too! LOL

Blugre Raspberry Blast
Next in line is the Blugre Passionfruit Blast. Hearing the name of this cooler makes me so excited to taste it. Yes, I am feeling that this one is an exotic cooler because my palate is not so familiar with its taste. :) Passion fruit is a fruit that when you open, it has a lot of seeds with the fruit meat surrounding the seeds. It is grown here in the country but not with so much production yet. With its taste, I compare it with the more familiar fruit like the guyabano. However, I come to realize of a closer characteristic and taste with it is the star apple. :) Well, it's a must-try friends. :) Its serving appearance, compliment of cream and passion fruit taste, and passion fruit-flavored jelly, all blended well and ready to be served. :)

Blugre Passionfruit Blast
Finally, who says that halo-halo is only served on ice? Well, Blugre has its very unique Halo-halo Torte. Typically, halo-halo is served with ice that waters to your mouth and relieves the summer heat. Yet and yet, this halo-halo torte is such an innovation. Yes, this torte has the components of a usual halo-halo; it has ube, beans, leche flan, jack fruit, flakes and ice cream. :) You will be amazed of its layering that has come to perfection. This torte is sweet but the cream together with the vanilla ice cream neutralizes its sweetness that will surely allow your tummy to have more of it. :) This serving is worth 145 pesos and its a good value for money. :)
Halo-halo Torte
That's it! This gastronomic servings are really really good. The Halo-halo Torte has just presented itself last month with a positive response from the people. While the Blugre summer coolers will make its mark from April to mid-June this year and these are available in all the 10 Blugre Coffee branches. :)

I would like to thank the co-owner of Blugre Coffee, Sir Benjamin Cuaresma, together with his wife, Ma'am Gloria (who innovated the halo-halo torte), and the marketing in-charge, Miss Angeli Alcuizar, for welcoming us to their store with so much delight. See you soon Blugre in Singapore and Bahrain... :)

Good Points to Remember When Traveling: Packing Things Right

Every travel is a different experience. In every experience, there is a lot of memories worth to remember. I may not be the best traveler in the world, but I just want to share a piece of me during travels.

Most of the time, I want to bring along 2 bags when traveling. One bag, a back pack, carries all my shirts and necessities. While the other bag, usually a sling bag, carries my personal belongings especially documents and wallets. In short, I can consider myself as a light traveler.

Bags are my best friends during travels. Sometimes, I consider it as my security blanket. Without the bag, I feel being unclothed. LOL

Anyways, I don't usually prepare my bag like a day before the travel, but most of the time, hours before the travel. I just don't know to myself but there's a sense of fulfillment when cramming but meeting the deadline. hahahha Yet, I don't think it is really a hard thing packing up for a 3-5 days travel. That is why even I am cramming packing up things, I can still manage it.

What do I do?

With my back pack, I have 3 organizers there. One pouch is for all the toiletries. Another pouch is for my underwear, hankies, face towels and socks. Last pouch is for all the chargers. Since everything has been arranged, then, I roll each shirt, trouser and short pants inside the bag to save some space inside the bag. That is why even I have 6 shirts, 2 trousers, and 3 short pants inside the bag, I still have some spaces for other things to put inside the bag. Then, I can put the slippers inside and done! :)

With my sling bag, I usually put there my valuables such as the wallet, mobile phones, camera, emergency medicines, passport for international trip. I also put inside a notebook and pen so that I can jot down details especially when it is a first time travel or some kind of a travel challenge for me. Aside from that, I also bring in a bottle of water and some food to eat or candies.

Well, that's how simple I pack things. :)

Yet, in the future, if God will allow, I want to travel bringing only a sling bag carrying the valuables and just shop for items when necessary. LOL

Travel CHALLENGE Day 2 Part 5: Last Night in Bacolod City

It was really a long day for me...

I toured myself around the 31 ancestral houses, walked 2.4 kilometers to see the Ruins of Talisay City and waited for hours to see the sunset view of the Ruins.
The Capitol at Night
That experience was truly an experience worth remembering as a solo traveler. :) With that, I needed an energizer again. So, I tasted another plate of chicken inasal at Chicken Deli. :) Their chicken was a bit thin, but it was as tasty as the chicken inasal I tasted in Silay City. This time, I paid 108 pesos for this meal and a soft drink. It was unlimited rice serving, yet I consumed only 2 cups of rice. Good enough! Happy tummy! :)

Chicken Inasal at Chicken Deli
Yet, the night was still young. However, I needed to freshen up myself because it was a very long day and I sweated a lot. So, I pampered myself at the Captel. Rest a bit, then, prepared myself to taste Bacolod's best pastry and cake house - Calea. :)

A travel blogger, in the person of Enrico Dee, was with me at Calea. I met him through another travel blogger Mervin. Since, Enrico was in Bacolod, Mervin referred me to him so that somebody can tour me around the city.

Well, back to Calea, I was wanting a blueberry cheesecake. However, it was out of stock. I got disappointed, but that's how salable it was so there's nothing I could do. Indeed, Calea was a place where a lot of people go to taste their sweets. So, Enrico recommended another cake which was the fruity cheesecake. Since I got disappointed, I forgot to take a photo of it, but munched the cake instead. lol

The fruit cheesecake was a winner! Yes, it was a winner for 80 pesos only... It was a cheesecake with pineapple, a bit of blueberry and cherry. The cake's sweetness was neutralized by the pineapple. It was really mouthwatering and a good treat! Well, I would be back again to take of photo of their cakes. No disappointments, that's for sure! :)

After the tasting at Calea, Enrico told me that there's a newly opened Bacolod Baywalk. So, we went there and he told me that it would be near the port going to Iloilo City. Before we arrived at the bay walk, some beautiful landmarks that caught my very eyes.

The Archdiocese of Bacolod had been put into the news because of the politically inclined tarpaulins at the church. Well, this was the church. It was well-lit and standing strong.
Cathedral
After passing by the church, you would then enter the vicinity of a big mall towards the bay walk. Before, the bay walk, there stood a tower named after Pope John Paul II. If I remember it right, the Pope visited there during 1980s. The tower was monumental...

Few more steps, then we arrived at the Bacolod Baywalk. I didn't know that Enrico was known to many in Bacolod. Well, I didn't care at all. At least, I have seen the newly opened Bacolod Baywalk. The place was really lively with a lot of happening going on. There were cars... A lot of cars packed with loud sound system. Aside from the cars, there were food stalls, modelling and stage presentations.
The Bacolod Baywalk
My stay in Bacolod was indeed a blast. I could say that the whole day was full-packed with tour. :) Though I hadn't met my friend, well, I still managed to tour around. :)
