Travel CHALLENGE DAY 1 part 1: Davao City to Cagayan de Oro City

The Day 1 started at the first minute of the love day. The route was Davao City-Cagayan de Oro City-Bacolod City. Davao City to Cagayan de Oro City was by bus, and Cagayan de Oro City to Bacolod City was by plane.

From Davao City to Cagayan de Oro City, a 8 to 9-hour bus ride was expected. The fare amounting 510 pesos was for regular passengers and 410 pesos for students. Be sure to have your student ID with you to avail the student privilege. That was the rate of the Rural Tours (aircon); you could also opt for Rural Transit (non-aircon), but I wasn't able to get their fare rates. :p

It was a very long travel by land. Since the bus departed very early dawn (2:00 AM), it was cold. Then, it  became very cold, and a stop at a Scott Michel Meal Place around 5:30 AM helped minimize the coolness as I bought a hot chocolate drink amounting 20 pesos. Aside from the hot chocolate drink, there were other food choices available such as noodles and coffee. As the ride continued, the sunrise was up and you would see the beautiful scenery of Bukidnon and its mountains.

Love in the Air, I am on Travel! :p
Upon arrival at the Cagayan de Oro City Overland Terminal, several drivers approached and offered services to send you to your destination, but don't eat the bait because you would be out of budget with their rates (100-150 pesos going to a mall near the Lumbia Airport). You could approach jeepney drivers for directions going to the nearby mall near the airport at least it would cost you cheaper than riding a taxi or single motorcycle. As for the record, from the bus terminal to Cogon Marketing (where some jeepneys passed going the mall near the airport), it costed 7 pesos only. Then, from Cogon Marketing to the mall was just 10 pesos. I arrived there at the mall at 11:45 AM; I bought some toiletries, ate my lunch (brought something to eat - paella) and waited until 2:00 PM for me to proceed to the airport.

It was a first time for me to do a challenge like this. It was also my first time to go to Cagayan de Oro Airport commuting. Since the dispatchers told me that it takes time to wait for jeepneys going to the airport from the mall. So, I just patiently waited for the jeepney (will cost me 17 pesos only) going to the airport and ignored taxis (will cost me a hundred pesos)! lol :p

Just so lucky that the jeepney going to the airport arrived around 2:10 PM,  and I arrived at the Cagayan de Oro Airport around 2:30 PM. My flight was at 5:30 PM; I was so early. The airport was small and doing the pre-departure procedures would just take you some 15 minutes only. I waited there for 3 hours people-watching. lol

Travel tip: Cagayan de Oro Airport's terminal fee was just 30 pesos only!
